1. Thing you cannot leave the house without?
This is really hard to say…I don’t have any object I can’t leave my home without in the true sense of “can’t leave without.” I’d say my keys because my door locks automatically, but that probably doesn’t count. I’d have to say readiness.
2. Favorite brand of makeup?
This is tough for me because I’m not really a hardcore makeup person…but I like Shiseido or Lancome. I don’t buy a lot, but I like nice simple makeup.
3. Favorite flower?
Lilac and lilies
4. Favorite clothing store?
If I could afford it on a regular basis, Diesel Jeans. Otherwise I like Gap, Express, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic.
5. Favorite perfume ?
Haven’t found a favorite yet.
6. Heels or flats?
I love heels. But it’s totally unnecessary to wear everyday as a student, so flats.
7. Do you make good grades?
Definitely could make better, but they’re alright.
8. Favorite colors?
Purple.
9. Do you drink energy drinks?
Not really, because they’re sort of expensive, but I have. I like Red Bull the best.
10. Do you drink juice?
Juice as in real fruit juice? Yes, I try to. I love OJ and A(pple)J…and M(ango)J.
11. Do you like swimming?
Love swimming. My dad taught me when I was 4.
12. Do you eat fries with a fork?
No, can’t say that I do.
13. Favorite moisturizer?
Right now I like Curel for hand cream and body lotion and Vaseline hand cream.
14. Do you want to get married later on in life?
Yes, hahah.
15. Do you get mad easily?
I don’t think so. I used to have a temper, especially around my family, which was uncalled for and really unfair to my parents and sister especiallyl, but I think I’ve gotten a lot better. (My mom agrees.) I get irritated more often than mad.
16. Are you into ghost hunting?
What? NO.
17. Any phobias?
I do have some strong dislikes, namely snakes, and I do get scared in dark creepy places, but no legitimate phobias.
18. Do you bite your nails?
Rarely.
19. Have you ever had a near death experience?
Knock on wood. I’m going to avoid jinxing myself.
20. Do you drink coffee?
Yes. I like coffee a lot, but not addicted.

Steady Progress

This semester I made improvements, but I feel that it’s just not enough.

I have to be perfect from now on…but that’s so hard.

I think I’m at a point where mere improvements aren’t enough anymore, which sucks because this sets me up for easy disappointments…

But I have to achieve perfection. I think it really boils down to work ethic and determination. It’s really time I master them.

Finals Week Ahead

Yeah so much for that 4.0 plan…I’m looking at 3 A’s and 3 B’s at best and 2 A’s and 4 B’s if not. I guess this semester could have been worse, but it certainly didn’t go as planned.

What is wrong with me?
Why can’t I execute and stick to the plan?

Monday I have an important final…time to be clutch? Yes.

This school makes me wonder if my potential is truly this limited…
But really I need to suck it up and just do better.

Mid-Semester Break

It’s already mid-semester!
How time flies…I’m quarter of the way done with my junior year. It’s so strange that I’m a junior…this is way too close to the end of college.

Thank god it’s the weekend. This past week was insane…work overload. And while Friday I had no classes due to the break, I had four essays and a problem set due…REALLY? It’s alright, that’s done. Now I have to look ahead to next week.

Second half of the semester is going to be insane, but I have to pull through.

I really hate Sunday nights…I’m always on such a time crunch because there’s always more work to do. I need to figure out how to be more productive.

At least the Steelers won…why was this game even remotely close?

Is it really sad that I can’t wait to do better this semester? =/

Tough skin

I like confidence, but I hate arrogance.
I find arrogance mostly just annoying especially unwarranted, but I really hate condescending people.

Why do people feel the need to make others feel worthless and therefore themselves so worthy?
I think I have a pretty healthy dosage of confidence, self-worth, and self-respect. I like who I am and I’m happy with who I am. But somehow, some people can really get to me and I’m left feeling so down. I think one of the reasons is because I am a people-pleaser, and not being able to please someone leaves me feeling empty. But I’m not disappointed that I didn’t measure up when someone gives me the condescending tone, so not sure that’s exactly it. Maybe the people-pleaser in me is why I care about what these people think.

But all in all, I’ve come to realize that I have yet to develop a tough skin. So, I guess I need to work on that so I can control my anger and emotions…

NFL Kickoff

I am so pumped to see the Steelers play again. I had a really rough week, but what a way to bring in Friday/weekend!

Once someone said to me:
“If one day you woke up and you decide that you truly wanted something, you can do it…and this goes for whatever you decide to achieve.”

Maybe it’s the way he said it, maybe it’s because he’s someone I sincerely admire, but when he said it, it really hit me and made me a believer. My philosophy is that self-confidence and self-assurance really has to come from within, but this once time, someone else influenced me that much.

And so, as I sit here at 3a.m. trying to finish homework, some I haven’t started on yet, I’m trying to stay focused and hopeful.

Promises to myself

The first week of classes went pretty well. I generally like all my classes and even though I can already tell that it’s going to be an intense semester, I’m hoping that if I keep up and keep a positive attitude, this can be one of my best semesters.

If you look through my planner, you’ll not only see notes of due dates/meetings/reminders but separate to-do lists. I like making (sometimes repetitive) to-do lists because I believe they are a good way to put into perspective all the events of my life. Similarly, I believe in making resolutions and goals. Obviously I never achieve them all because they’re ambitious and specific, but I think that’s the point. What’s the point of making resolutions you can easily accomplish? Goals and dreams should be difficult to achieve. Otherwise you don’t need to strive.

These are the promises I’d like to make to myself for this semester:

I won’t give up.
I will try to be more efficient.
I will stop watching shows out of boredom.
I will work out at least 3x a week.
I will stop shopping out of boredom.
I will assume the best out of everyone.
I will be kind, forgiving, generous & honest.
I will ask more questions.
I will always keep dreaming.

The RA experience: the beginning.

I just friend requested all my residents…all 30something residents. It was tedious! I’m not complaining, I’m truly excited about being an RA, but I have to admit that half way through the friend requesting, I started regretting my decision to write every single person a different personal message. I really value adding personal touches to things, but I’m not that creative, and after a while I couldn’t think of much new way to say “hi I’m your RA, hope I can make this experience a good one for you.’

Now I’m brainstorming ideas for door dec(oration)s. My building is not a five star hotel to say the least, so I think it’s important that I put some real effort into door decs to make up for the condition of the building… I’d like them to be really cool, something the residents will like. I think they should also be somewhat interactive, not just visual.

I really hope my residents will enjoy having me as an RA, but more importantly I hope they’ll have a good experience with the living situation…that’s really important to me.

I also started moving in today…SUPER excited about having an apartment to myself! But I will definitely have to decorate the room…the white walls are rather bland =/

I'll need reminders of LA all over my room...
